Accommodations

The network of accommodation in Buenos Aires is vast, and prices tend to be cheaper than in Europe or North America. Besides hotels, there are a number of airbnb options: https://www.airbnb.com.ar/

Because of the major economic crisis that Argentina is traversing, we have not established agreements with particular hotels so far. These will be announced later on during the first semester.

We suggest three distinct areas of the city that are at the same time well connected with the Ciudad Universitaria and with the city centre and tourist attractions:

1. The district (“barrio”) of Recoleta, around the intersections of Santa Fe and Callao Avenues: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recoleta,_Buenos_Aires

Some of the hotels in Recoleta (for all budgets) can be seen here:

Recoleta is a rich residential neighbourhood near the city centre and also an area containing many tourist highlights (Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, Biblioteca Nacional, Plaza Francia, Floralis Generica, Cemetery, Ateneo Grand Splendid, Palacio Sarmiento…). It is connected to Ciudad Universitaria by bus line 37 on Callao Avenue, or, alternatively, by line D (green) of the subte (metro) and then buses 160 (Plaza Italia or Palermo stations), 42 (Olleros station) or 107 (Juramento station).

2. The zone around Obelisco: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obelisco_de_Buenos_Aires

Some of the hotels around the Obelisco (for all budgets) can be seen here:

The 67-metre-high, white-stone covered obelisk is the symbol of Buenos Aires. East of it begins the “microcentro” (little centre), the historical town with the famous Plaza de Mayo. West of it you will find Avenida Corrientes with the theatres, bookstores and world-renowned pizzerias. From here, you can reach the Ciudad Universitaria with buses 45 (which uses the metrobus lanes on 9 de Julio Avenue) or 37 (on Callao Avenue). Alternatively, you can take line B (red) of subte to Federico Lacroze station and from there bus 42 or a taxi or app-car.

3. The district (“barrio”) of Belgrano, once a town separate from Buenos Aires and now included in its municipal term: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belgrano,_Buenos_Aires

Some of the hotels around in Belgrano and around (for all budgets) can be seen here:

hotels around in Belgrano and around (for all budgets)

Belgrano is the neighbourhood of the Ciudad Universitaria, although all existing hotels are at least 2 km away from the campus, and walking is not recommended, since you need to traverse over the “Dr. Arturo Umberto Illia” highway via one of the available gangways or bridges. Biking is also possible, but in heavy (Latin-American) traffic. From Belgrano, you can reach the campus with lines 42 (from Federico Lacroze Avenue) or 107 (on Blanco Encalada Street), or by taxi or app-car. If you stay in Belgrano, you are near the famous quarter of Palermo, with many tourist attractions, and at a 15-minute bus ride from the macrocentro (big centre).
